Shadows
My interview with Julian Lambert

One of the lovely things about today's world is that people can easily come across your work and get in contact.
I had a surprise email out of the blue in July from Julian Lambert, a well-known teacher and pianist who has a successful YouTube channel and online teaching site, specialising in the graded exam repertoire.
He had been asked by a subscriber if he would do a sepcial focus video on my piece, Shadows, and was writing to ask my permission to feature it on his channels. It took me about 3 mico-seconds to say yes!
He also wondered if I would be interested in recording a conversation about the piece to describe the inspiriation and story behind it.
Well, of course I wanted to talk about my music!
So later that day we had an engaging chat about how I came to compose the piece and the elements I wanted to include in the music to convey the original imaginative concept.
He's done a fantastic job of putting it all together and I'm really grateful to Julian for this opportunity to share my music more widely.
Shadows is the fourth piece in my collection, Night Time Impressions - a series of 8 piano pieces that takes the performer and listener on a journey from dusk to dawn through the darkness of the night. I'm delighted that it has been selected for the ABRSM Grade 3 piano syllabuses, 2025-29. A short blog about the piece can be found here
