Wonder was inspired by a recent trip abroad. I found myself looking across a large city from high up in my hotel room and was struck with a sense of awe and wonder at everything I was seeing. So many new things to look and marvel at, with the natural landscape around beautifully framing everything.

The music starts gently and the melody seemed to grow from the words:
I look round in wonder, I look round and view the world, everything I see fills me with wonder

The middle section is texturally complex and harmonically varied, becoming more active and exciting to portray the sense of excitement I felt as I looked around - I could hardly believe what I was seeing!

The ending returns to the opening theme, closing the piece peacefully as if the sense of marvel and amazement settles and becomes a gentle joy.
